The upgrade of items is a crucial part of gearing up your character. Upgrades boost damage to items and enhancements.
They also provide bonuses and enhancements. They can be purchased by contacting the Blacksmith.
The upgrade button can be found on any item. Each recycled item adds a level to the upgrade gauge.
Weapons
If a weapon is upgraded, it will gain a base damage bonus, as well as a scaling factor which affects other stats. Certain upgrade components come with aesthetic effects while others give additional attributes. These upgrades can be added to weapons, armors trinkets, gathering tools, and trinkets. Most require that the equipment has an upgrade slot available and meets certain specifications. Once a weapon or armor piece features an upgrade component within it, the item can be upgraded but the previous upgrade will be destroyed (except for legendary equipment and upgrades). Upgrade components can be recovered using the Black Lion Salvage Kit Ascended Salvage tool, or high-tier salvaging tool for an item.
In addition to the normal upgrades, a weapon can be upgraded with a Calibration Attribute that improves certain stats like Weakspot Damage or Crit Rate. This can be done through the Gear Workbench's interaction menu. Based on the level of the weapon it can be done up to four times.
Once the weapon has reached its maximum level of improvement it can be reforged to add different effects and bonuses or to boost specific stats. Several of these upgrades can be applied at once, and their effects are based on the nature of the weapon.
Two Blacksmiths can perform these upgrades in the game: Blacksmith Iji on the Road to the Manor Site of Grace and Smithing Master Hewg at the Church of Elleh hub. Both upgrade materials differ: Smithing Stones to modify the damage weapons deal and Somber Smithing Stones to alter the standard weapons.
In general, it's advisable to improve your weapon's damage first. Then you can increase your armor defense, and then the secondary stats that are required by your build. In particular, it's common to see melee druids enhancing their weapon before any other gear, as this helps maximise DPS. This is especially applicable to enchantments that enhance a weapon's stats and damage.
Armor
Item upgrades allow players to enhance the base stats of certain armor pieces trinkets, weapons, trinkets, and gathering tools. These upgrades can also give additional effects, such as more damage or a cosmetic enhancement. Item Upgrades can be obtained by crafting, purchasing from NPC vendors, or in loot drops or as quest rewards.
The upgrade of armor can be done by visiting the Armorer NPC and spending appropriate currency. In the majority of cases, a piece of armor will be upgraded to next level after an upgrade is applied. This is the case for any type of armor, however certain types of armor cannot be upgraded in any way (such as the armor used to start in Great Sky Island).

In addition to enhancing the defense base of an item, some upgrades also provide special abilities that can be activated when wearing an armor. These abilities can prove useful in combat. Some upgrades have passive effects that can be beneficial, such as reducing damage while wearing armor or enhancing the chance of avoiding an attack.
Depending on the type of armor, upgrading an item could require multiple tries. If a player wants to upgrade Steelclash armor to Dragonscale and the first attempt will result in a brand new Dragonscale armor with a defense base between 59-67. The second attempt will result in a brand new Dragonscale armor that has the base defense between 67 and 77, and the list goes on.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild lets players to upgrade their armor sets to level 4. To do this players must visit the four Great Fairy Fountains located in the game. Suggested Site of these locations holds the power of a fairy who can upgrade one piece of armor for the player.
Contrary to popular belief, armor is not useless in The Division 2. Certain armors provide a significant increase in the ability to reduce damage caused by poison or curse, magic or fire. This makes them valuable for certain types of builds. There are other methods to increase the strength of armor apart from upgrading the armor, like using the engineer attribute to increase armor penetration or the challenger trait to decrease the weight of the entire armor.
Potion
A potion can be upgraded by placing it in the brewing stand to unlock new effects. The upgrade unlocks a new level of potion effect and can be repeated to unlock higher levels of potency.
The potion also gets a custom color code, which the player can choose using /give and which can affect the area-of-effect clouds as well as arrows produced by the potions. In Bedrock Edition the custom potion colour also applies to the particle effects of the potions.
The water bottle, common and thick potions and awkward potions, now have a distinct the texture of brewing. In the Creative Inventory, potion healing and potion weakness are now available. The addition of lingering potions which can be made using splash potions or Dragon breath. Additionally, there is a potent potion that has the status effect Mining Fatigue. Trinket
A trinket can be described as a small inexpensive ornament or piece of jewelry. This can be a necklace, ring or even a tiny flag used to identify a boat's yard that is lateen. It could also refer to a gilded trinket that is attached to the mast of a vessel.
This macabre trinket seems to be influencing the denizens of this maze which makes them more prevalent. This trinket, at the moment, makes all types of mimics more common and gives every floor an A% chance that it will contain an ebony replica. This trinket requires a small amount of energy to upgrade.
The enchanted Scepter's magic appears to affect the dungeon by increasing the probability of generating water and grass. At its current level this trinket will make X% of the floors become filled with water or grass, but doesn't affect enchantments or glyphs, cursed weapons or armor, or items generated to aid in the elimination of hazards.
The item, which appears like a newt's eyes, seems to affect your vision in a way that goes beyond just decreasing your field of view. At its current level this trinket increases the overall health gained from drinking potions of healing, waterskins, and wells of health by X%. It also grants vision on enemies within the Y tiles. This trinket does not stack with the Heightened Senses.
Skull Cavern is where you will find Trinkets after you've completed the Mastery Cave. You can find them after defeating Monsters and chests and crates. They are not available in the Mines or Volcano Dungeon.
When you find a trinket that requires upgrading then place it in the Anvil to do so. This will create an unpredictable effect on the trinket, either prolonging its life or enhancing its effects. You can reorge a Trinket multiple times as often as you wish, however it will always have an effect that is different from the one that it had when you made it.
You can also upgrade your Trinkets at the Alchemy Station by placing them into a Magical Catalyst. This will cost you 6 energy and increase the power of the trinket by only a tiny amount.
